Six Nations Polytechnic (SNP) is a unique Indigenous Institute, recognized by community, government, and institutions of higher learning, as a Centre of Excellence for Indigenous Knowledge. Function & Overview
Community Integration through Co-operative Education (CICE) is an Ontario College Certificate program that offers students with intellectual disabilities and other significant learning challenges the opportunity to pursue a postsecondary education to prepare for success in entry level work, build independence and self-advocacy skills for adult life. The Indigenous CICE Program is a program of excellence that includes culturally appropriate and relevant supports.
Under the supervision of the Unit Manager of Community Services, the Project Coordinator is responsible for the curriculum development and engagement with college collaborators, employment partners, and community support organizations. Leading the project in collaboration with the Unit Manager of Community Services, the Project Coordinator will be responsible for project management, ensuring the project is developed within the scheduled timeframe and in consultation with the appropriate units and partner organizations involved throughout the duration. The Project Coordinator will provide leadership, guidance, and problem-solving skills and will be a team player within the project team.
Duties
The duties of the Project Coordinator include, without limitation:
Program Planning, Delivery & Quality Assurance

Planning and implementing the project phases in consultation with Unit Manager;

Liaising with community to meet community needs, and navigating partnership;

Researching and recommending best practices and solutions to project challenges;
- Establishing connections with local communities including the Six Nations of the Grand River, Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation, and Brantford/Brant communities to create a network of supports for the CICE program, students, and families to foster strong community involvement;

Enhancing an existing CICE partner program with Indigenous knowledge and Land-Based practice components;

Developing weekly learning plans for each course to align with enhanced learning outcomes;

Coordinating and conducting a Program Advisory Committee and Community Engagement events;

Providing advice and recommending solutions on project issues;

Collaborating with the Unit Manager to respond wholistically to any issues or challenges as they relate to the project;

Compiling and preparing progress and quality assurance reports;
Communications & Records

Creating and documenting policy as it pertains to the development of the project;

Conducting project audits and provide regular project updates to the Unit Manager;
General Administration

Developing a work plan for the efficient and effective discharge of all duties;

Adhering to all policies and processes, including conforming to deadlines and reporting requirements; and

Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education and Experience
- College Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Social Service Work/Social Work, Developmental Services, Educational Assistant, or a related field;
- Experience working in postsecondary education environments; and

Experience in project management and coordinating teams.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

A general and current knowledge of Hodinohsó:ni history, culture, values, contemporary issues, community priorities, and stakeholders;

Familiarity with the postsecondary education sector in Ontario, especially the regulatory environment;

Knowledge of the Indigenous Institutes sector considered a particular asset;

Excellent communication skills with an emphasis on written expression (i.e., faultless spelling and grammar, and professional style);

Flexibility in learning new program areas or approaches, and willingness to undertake additional training and professional development;

Sound interpersonal skills including communication, organization, negotiation, and professional judgement;

Ability to work under pressure and manage schedules, portfolios, and timelines, to meet demanding deadlines;

Demonstrated familiarity with standard desktop computing programs, including spreadsheets, word processing, and database applications, on the Windows 2010 (or later) operating system; and
