Shared Health leads the planning and coordinates the integration of patient-centered clinical and preventive health services across Manitoba. The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.

Position Overview

Under general supervision and while demonstrating a commitment to the Mission, Values and Management Philosophy of St. Boniface General Hospital, the ADMINISTRATIVE SECRETARY is responsible for providing secretarial and administrative support to an individual(s) and/or a department in a clinical or administrative area within the hospital.

Experience

  • Two(2) years secretarial experience preferably in a hospital or other health care setting.

Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)

  • Clinical Positions
  • Grade XII or recognized equivalent.
  • Successful completion of a recognized medical secretarial program.or Successful completion of a recognized secretarial or administrative secretarial program, plus successful completion of a recognized medical terminology course.
  • Non-Clinical Positions
  • Grade XII or recognized equivalent.
  • Successful completion of a recognized secretarial or administrative secretarial program.

Certification/Licensure/Registration

  • Not Applicable

Qualifications and Skills

  • Keyboarding speed:  55 wpm
  • Knowledge of computer systems and proficiency in the use of current and related software including spreadsheets, databases, word processing, powerpoint, internet and email applications.
  • Knowledge of University administrative procedures would be an asset in clinical areas.
  • Ability to read, write, speak and understand French may be a required in certain positions.
  • Ability to take shorthand may be required in certain positions.
  • Ability to read, write, speak and understand English.
  • Ability to retain information which is of a confidential nature.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to meet deadlines.
