Posting Overview :

The Indigenous Graduation Coach will assist with leading and implementing programs, services and other supports to meet the unique needs of Indigenous students and their families, with a focus on student success and graduation. Duties will include organizing supportive activities and opportunities and collaboration with school staff, parents, Indigenous community partners and outside agencies to build networks and supports to foster success for students. As a member of the school team, the Indigenous Graduation Coach will play a crucial role in assisting all staff to improve the achievement, well-being and graduation rates for Indigenous high school students.

Qualifications/Experience :
Completion of a college or university program - related field is preferred;
Successful experience working in a field related to or with local Indigenous communities.

• Strong appreciation of, and empathy with, the needs of students assisting them towards academic success and completion of requirements of graduation;
Sensitivity to local Indigenous perspectives and priorities;
Good understanding of the Ontario curriculum as it relates to Indigenous perspectives and priorities;
Knowledge of and access to community services;
A high degree of initiative and self-direction;
Strong communication and organization skills as well as proficient computer skills;
Good interpersonal skills in order to interact positively with students, parents and school staff displaying professionalism;
Working knowledge of the Canadian Human Rights Code, Child and Family Services Act, and L.K.D.S.B. Safe Schools Policy;
Access to reliable transportation; travel throughout the district will be required.
Position Effective Date & Length :

One position available.
Non-union, Permanent, 35 hours/week, 7 hours/day
Location to be determined.
Level 1 - 57,155/annum - 63,506/annum
