THE JOB: Senior Project Coordinator, Truth & Reconciliation (12 Month Contract)

The starting salary range falls within the minimum to mid-point of the salary range.

Starting Salary Range: $63,600 - $79,500

Reporting to the Director, Indigenous Specific Anti-Racism (ISAR) & Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI), the Senior Project Coordinator, Truth & Reconciliation is responsible for the development, implementation, and coordination of the overall roadmap for the Truth & Reconciliation plan at Doctors of BC. This role ensures alignment with the organization's commitment to , eradicating Indigenous-specific racism, advancing cultural safety, and accountability to Indigenous partners and communities. The coordinator works collaboratively with internal teams, Indigenous leaders, external consultants, and system partners to integrate best practices, develop timelines, clarify roles and deliverables, and establish responsive feedback mechanisms throughout all phases of the project. A key aspect of the role includes tracking and reporting on project progress to various internal and external audiences, maintaining clear documentation, and ensuring alignment with the objectives of the Truth & Reconciliation plan.

This position requires strong communication and relationship-building skills to engage effectively with diverse partners including Elders, Knowledge Keepers, Indigenous physicians, cultural advisors, and representatives from the Ministry of Health, the Doctors of BC Board, and other system partners. The Senior Project Coordinator is a key liaison, ensuring communications are timely, culturally respectful, and tailored for different audiences. Meeting logistics, documentation, and the integration of cultural protocols are central responsibilities in this area.

Working closely with the Portfolio Management and Change Leadership (PMCL) team, the Senior Coordinator contributes to broader organizational learning and integrated planning efforts by capturing and applying lessons learned. They will ensure project activities meet PMCL standards and support continuous improvement. The role also includes managing project budgets, maintaining progress trackers, and incorporating insights and feedback from Indigenous partners into ongoing work. The successful candidate will bring a high degree of cultural competency, organizational skills, and a commitment to advancing Truth and Reconciliation in healthcare.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • In responding to the impacts of colonization on Indigenous people, preference may be given to Indigenous applicants with lived experience and knowledge directly relevant to the position. We encourage applications from those who wish to self-identify.
  • Experience with Indigenous communities and organizations, and experience working with Elders and Knowledge Keepers.
  • Knowledge and respect of Indigenous culture and traditions and understand the diversity of First Nations, Metis and Inuit cultures.
  • Knowledge of the impacts of colonization on Indigenous people, including knowledge and understanding of Indigenous cultural safety, cultural humility, Indigenous-specific racism and anti-racism.
  • An undergraduate degree or a specialized post-secondary diploma in a related field, such as project management, with up to two years of related experience.
  • Knowledge of BC’s health care system and experience working with physicians would be considered an asset.
  • Specialized knowledge in a technical or professional discipline, preferably in a health, not-for-profit, adult education, government or business sector, and an ability to apply technical/professional concepts and applications to tasks or activities.
  • Adept at balancing major concurrent tasks and projects and working with internal and external parties in a coordinated manner.
  • Organized, resourceful and efficient with an outstanding attention to detail, particularly in matters related to internal and external communications.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills and the ability to represent the team and department with a high level of professionalism.
  • Proven ability to respond to a wide variety of issues and deal with ambiguity and conflicting demands.
  • Effective writing skills and proven ability to develop clear and concise communication.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with PC based software, particularly Microsoft PowerPoint, Word, Excel, and Outlook.
