We are accepting Teacher applications for the following position:

Position: Temporary, Part-Time (.70 FTE) Indigenous Language and Culture (Kindergarten - Grade 3)

Location: Crescent Valley School, Hinton AB

Start Date: August 26, 2024 until June 27, 2025

Hours of work: 1.0 FTE Monday-Friday

The competition will remain open until: June 25, 2024

Role and Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be a collaborative person with proficiency in the use of educational technology and have an understanding of assessment for learning. The responsibilities include:

  • Providing instruction to promote high quality student-centered learning.
  • Designing and preparing lessons based on curriculum and following a variety of methodology in teaching and instructing students, including lectures, demonstrations and discussions.
  • Facilitating inclusive educational practices to maximize educational opportunities for all students.
  • Reviewing and evaluating each student's performance, knowledge and skills and meeting all reporting and assessment deadlines.
  • Adhering to provincial legislation, board policy and division administrative procedures.
  • Developing constructive relationships with parents.
  • Collaborate with other instructional staff members.
  • Modelling commitment to professional development.
  • Communicate about student progress to administrators, parents, and students.
  • Encourage parent involvement in student learning at home and at school.
  • Plan, deliver, and coordinate a program that is optimal for the Indigenous language learning and cultural practices. Preference will be given to those who have an understanding of Cree, Saulteaux, Inuit, and Michif.
  • Additional Information: The teaching assignment may include other complementary subject to complete the assignment

Requirements

The successful candidate will:

  • Possess an Alberta Teaching Certificate or be eligible for one.
  • Have experience in following the Teaching Quality Standard (TQS) and infusing literacy across the curriculum.
  • Hold a Bachelor’s degree of Education.

Grande Yellowhead Public School Division stretches from Jasper National Park, east to Evansburg, south of Cadomin, and northwest to Grande Cache. The jurisdiction includes 17 schools, 5 Learning Connection Centres, approximately 5000 students and 600 staff. The Division is governed by seven elected Trustees.
